Portuguese is a Romance Indo-European language originating in the Iberian Peninsula of Europe. It is the official language of Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Sao Tomé and Principe, and Brazil. It has a total of 220 million native speakers and about 50 million L2 speakers.
